A Bit About Robin
Born in Dundee, Robin grew up in the towns of Arbroath and then Carnoustie. It was there that he first met Lisa Nicoll at the Carnoustie Theatre Club, as they took their first unsteady steps in the arts. After studying drama in Dundee and then Kirkcaldy, he landed his first acting job playing Renton in the stage adaptation of Irvine Welsh's “Trainspotting”. Since then he has worked across the world on stage (including Perth Theatre!), television, film and radio playing numerous parts, including the lead role of Phil McCann in John Byrne's film of “The Slab Boys”, Arthur Conan Doyle in “Murder Rooms” for the BBC and Edward 'Babe' Heffron in the HBO production, “Band of Brothers”. More recently Robin is probably best known for his role as DI Donald in the BBC Scotland show, "River City", and appearing in the critically-acclaimed BBC shows "Shetland", "The Victim" and "Guilt", as well as the independent films "A Violent Man" and “Mind-Set”, written and directed by another Carnoustie alumnus, Mikey Murray. Over the past year or so he has appeared as Major MacDonald in seasons six and seven of "Outlander", popped up in ITV's "Stonehouse" and played Garth Chappell in BBC One’s "The Gold". He'll soon be seen in a new Sky TV drama about Lockerbie and as local landlord Ian in the BBC sitcom “Only Child”, alongside Greg McHugh and Gregor Fisher.
Robin is also a frequent voice-over artist for commercials, BBC and independent radio, as well as audiobooks and was nominated for 'Best Actor' at the 2021 BBC Audio Drama Awards.
