Developing and Maintaining Accents with 
Kirsty Strain

 

With over 15 years experience, Kirsty’s main objective is to help people find their true voice, to be fully present and aligned. As a dialect coach she has worked with lead actors on Deadwater Fell, Vigil and Karen Pirie.As a Voice Over Artist and Specialist, she works in narration, commercial, audiobooks, character/animation, gaming and ADR.​

Obstacles and Speed Bumps –Slowing Down to Get to Where We Want

 

These monthly sessions from our Creative Director Lisa which will allow us to gather to keep motivated and inspired by our world and keep us on track with our creativity and careers and Life.  This session will look how we can look at the obstacles and speed bumps which may sometimes feel like they slow us down.  Where do these come from and how can we find ways to overcome these without putting pressure on ourselves as creatives.

Child Friendly Creative Lunch

We know many of our members have children and have made our Creative Lunch Child Friendly this month!

 

Join us for a free creative lunch (a soup, sandwich and a hot drink)! and a chance to chat and network with everyone. An opportunity for you to network not just with colleagues but the wider business sector and this month to meet the wider creative hub family!!

Creative Funding  – Looking at the Bigger Picture and How to  Build Future Funding Networks

​

with Lisa Nicoll

​

 

Funding can feel like a stumbling block.  This workshop looks at ways to look at new ways of approaching and building opportunities for funding in a creative way to look towards an optimistic future.

 

Lisa has worked and secured funding over the last 15 years from a variety of sources and building relationships with the likes of The Scottish Government, Future Paisley, See Me, Co-op, Sense Over Sectarianism, Arnold Clark, NHS Lothian, NHS Great Glasgow and Clyde, Diageo, Glasgow City Council, Health Improvement Teams across Scotland, Alcohol Focus, GINA network, North Lanarkshire Council, West Lothian Council, The National Lottery and Creative Scotland amongst others.

 

She has also been on the panel of Creative Scotland’s Touring Fund on two occasions and was commissioned to research with venues the success of the fund.

Join Gavin Smith for an all you need to know of the commissioning process of TV, how to build a slate, working with production companies and engaging creatives. Whatever your stage of career this is one to come to!

Gavin has worked in scripted television for most of his career having spent 14 years at The Comedy Unit where he started in development and worked through various roles before becoming Creative Director. In 2018 he moved to the BBC to take up the role of Scripted Commissioning Executive for BBC Scotland.

Creating and Generating Ideas in the Rehearsal room

​

With Beth Morton

​

Join Beth for a practical workshop for actors, writers and directors in developing ideas both with and without script in a collaborative way.

 

Beth Morton is a freelance director and theatre maker, and most recently Mull Theatre Associate Director. Her collaborative artistic process as a theatre maker often sees her developing original work in partnership with writers and other creatives and she strives to create distinct worlds within which characters, ideas and stories can exist. 

 

Her directing work has been critically acclaimed including her 2018 production of Gary McNair’s re- imagined After The Cuts which played to sold out audiences.

She is also an associate artist with Raw Material and the Beacon Arts Centre and has worked with, most notably, Tron Theatre, MacRobert Arts Centre, In Motion, Oran Mor, Manchester Royal Exchange, Theatre Royal Stratford East and National Theatre of Scotland.

Match-Fit for Performance: You, at your Vocal Best!

​

With Michael Hill

 

(Part of a set of two sessions plus online one to ones & Performance– second session 27th March)​

​

As performers, it's important to 'keep the engine running' in terms of maintaining good vocal habits, but it's also good to have a chance to explore new territory in a safe, empowering environment. Perhaps you've always wanted to sing a certain song, but doubted whether you could pull it off? Maybe you've always wanted to showcase an accent, but haven't had the chance to add the final polish to your performance? Well, this workshop is your chance to shine! 

 

Michael will be on hand to share some top tips and tricks for getting you match-fit for performance & have audition material readily available in your bag of tricks!!

 

Come to this first workshop with a piece of text – poem, script or song that you would like to work on in both sessions.

 

 

Participants will have individual coaching time online to work on the text, poem, song or script which will be presented on the 28th of March to a small audience and fellow Creative Hub members at Perth Theatre.

 

Come along, try something new and explore your vocal potential! 

​

Michael is a  vocal coach who  embraces a wide range of different performers and styles – from teaching singing and accents to TV actors, dialect coaching for films, training West End singers, helping lawyers with public speaking and even teaching  international metalcore bands to scream safely on tour!

Michael is also a ‘weel-kent’ voice on BBC Radio nan Gàidheal and has hosted “Storytime” on BBC Alba
